For those of us returning to the ancient paths and keeping the appointed times of YAH, Passover (Pesach) in the first month—Abib—is a deeply meaningful memorial. But what happens if, for some reason, you missed it?
Maybe you were unclean due to a death in the family. Maybe you were on a journey. Or perhaps you lacked understanding or simply weren’t prepared in time. The good news is: YAH has already made a way for you to remember His feast—HalleluYAH!
What Is Pesach Sheni (Second Passover)?
The Torah provides a clear answer in Numbers 9:1–14, it is there that we read about some men who were unable to keep Passover at the appointed time because they had touched a dead body and were ceremonially unclean. They came to Moshe asking for guidance. Moshe inquired of YAH, and YAH answered:
“Speak to the children of Yisra’el, saying, ‘If any man of you or your descendants is unclean because of a dead body, or is far away on a journey, he may still keep the Passover to YAH. They shall keep it on the fourteenth day of the second month, at evening. They shall eat it with unleavened bread and bitter herbs.’
(Bemidbar/Numbers 9:10–11)
This is what we now refer to as “Pesach Sheni”—”the Second Passover.”

Who Is This For?
YAH’s instruction didn’t just apply to the native-born Yisraelite. Verse 14 says:
“You shall have one law, both for the stranger and for the native of the land.”
That means our companions—those from among the nations who have joined themselves to Yisra’el and desire to walk in obedience—are included. The same Torah, the same law.
How Do You Observe Pesach Sheni?
On the 14th day of the second month, at evening Eat:
- Lamb or goat (or a memorial meal in remembrance of both the Exodus Lamb, and more importantly The Lamb of YAH—Yahoshua)
- With unleavened bread
- And bitter herbs
Note: This is a one-night memorial meal. While it doesn’t initiate a seven-day Feast of Unleavened Bread like the original Pesach, many still choose to remove leaven for the day out of reverence, and some also keep leaven out of their homes for the full seven days in honor of Unleavened Bread.

Why This Matters
YAH is merciful and just. He knows our walk isn’t always perfect. Pesach Sheni shows us that He provides a second chance—not for excuses, but for sincere hearts.
It’s an invitation to return, reflect, and still honor the blood of the Lamb—even if we missed the first opportunity.
This 2nd chance opportunity to keep YAH moediem reminds us that obedience and remembrance are always in season when we walk with YAH.
Until next time, shalom ✌🏾
