Every now and then, family or friends ask me, “Why don’t you celebrate holidays?” I usually smile and reply, “Oh, I do! I celebrate all the holidays that are found in the Bible.” If you’ve ever wondered the same thing—or been asked this question—this is for you. Feel free to share it with others!
YAH has given us Holidays/Holy Days, or in Hebrew: His Moedim—appointed times, aka Feast Days—to remind us of His covenant, His calendar, His deliverance, and His promises yet to come. I’ve written separate blogs on each set of these holy days. To make things easier, here’s a one-stop spot where you can find them all in one place:
🌱 Springtime Biblical Holidays
Pesach (Passover), Matzot (Unleavened Bread), HaBikkurim (First Fruits), and Shavuot (Weeks/Pentecost) 👉 Ways to Keep the Biblical Holidays: YAH’s Springtime Feasts
🍂 Falltime Biblical Holidays
Yom Teruah (Day of Trumpets/Shouting), Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement), and Sukkot (Tabernacles/Booths) 👉 Ways to Keep the Biblical Holidays: YAH’s Fall-Time Feasts
❄️ Wintertime Biblical Memorial Festivals
Hanukkah (Dedication) and Purim (Lots) 👉 Ways to Keep the Biblical Holidays: Winter Remembrance Feasts
📖 Each of the blogs above goes into the meaning, Scripture references, and practical ways we can celebrate today, whether alone, with family, or in community.
Whether you’re just starting to keep YAH’s set-apart days and convocation, or you’ve been celebrating them for years, I pray this hub will serve as a helpful tool throughout the year.
And as always, be sure to download the PDF Feast Day Calendar, print it out, and use it to update your personal calendar with the projected celebration dates.”
📄 Need Help Getting Time Off for the Feasts?
To support you in keeping YAH’s appoinments, here are two template letters that you can download and use:
These letters are composed in a professional and respectful tone, referencing U.S. laws and court cases that protect the right to observe sincerely held religious practices. You can download, personalize, or copy them:
Employee Feast Day Observance Letter – for requesting time away from work to observe Shabbat & Feast Days.
Student Feast Day Observance Letter – for parents/guardians to send to their child’s school requesting excused absences to observe Shabbat & Feast Days.
Hopefully, these letters can help remove barriers so you and your family can faithfully keep YAH’s Feasts with peace of mind and joy.
