Pre-Feast Season Preparedness: Standing Firm Through The Shake-Ups

In the last few weeks and days leading up to The Biblical Holiday seasons—the seasons of YAH’s Feast Days, many of us Bible followers experience what I like to call “Pre-Feast shake-ups.”

If you have prepared for and kept YAH feast days, then you probably witnessed or weathered some shake-ups before, like:

  • Sudden tests and trials
  • Unexpected or illogical conflicts with your family, friend groups, or even worship assembly
  • Trivial, time-wasting distractions that steal your attention from feast day preparation

Some of these things may be YAH’s way of sifting and refining us and our mishpachah, like separating wheat from chaff (consider Matthew 3:12). Other times, they are simply distractions from the adversary, designed to steal our time, drain our energy, and destroy our purpose. Either way, we must stay on guard.

Scripture reminds us:

“Be sober-minded and alert. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.”

—1 Peter 5:8

Choosing What Deserves Our Attention

As the Feasts draw near, we must be extra intentional & vigilant. Pray for discernment. Ask our Father for His wisdom and guidance, so we may know what deserves our time—and what deserves to be ignored, remember

“To everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven:”

—Ecclesiastes‬ ‭3‬:‭1‬‬‬

We are called to help and serve others, but not at the expense of dishonoring YAH and His scheduled appointments. His moedim (appointed times) are not casual. They are rehearsals, sacred gatherings, and signs of His covenant with His people (Leviticus 23).

That means preparation matters. We must keep His Feasts with all effort, sincerity, planning, and attention.

Expect Obstacles

Here’s the truth: don’t be surprised if people around you act differently during this season. Expect to have your own shortfalls (Proverbs 24:16), and then repent and make amends quickly (Luke 17:3-4). Expect family and friends to be a little short with you. Expect work or school to be extra demanding. Expect fatigue. Expect distractions.

Why? Because we live in a world that does not keep YAH’s Feasts. Instead, this world is preparing for its own unbiblical, unholy day seasons—Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas. They call it the “holiday spirit,” but we know what spirit is truly behind it.

Yet we also know this:

“Greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.”

—1 John 4:4

Stand

So stand tall, family. Even if bad attitudes rise up against you, even if unexpected breakdowns come, even if sudden losses or shocking news shake your spirit—stand strong.

“Therefore take up the full armor of YAH, so that when the day of evil comes, you will be able to stand your ground, and having done everything, to stand.”

Ephesians‬ ‭6‬:‭13‬

The Messiah Yahoshua told us to seek first the Kingdom of Elohim (Matthew 6:33). That means keeping our eyes on the prize: preparing ourselves, our homes, and our assemblies to follow YAH’s instructions, which includes keeping YAH’s Feast in spirit and in truth (John 4:23–24).

Strength in Community

And don’t do it alone. Speak with one another. Encourage one another. Pray together as mishpachah (family).

“Pray in The Spirit at all times, with every kind of prayer and petition. To this end, stay alert with all perseverance in your prayers for all the saints (set apart ones).”

Ephesians‬ ‭6‬:‭18‬ ‭BSB‬‬

Every year, many of us make it through these Pre-Feast shake-ups. Through the power of YAH’s Ruach Qodesh, we will make it through again—and we will celebrate YAH’s Feasts, once more as a testimony to His glory.

“Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, saith YAH of hosts.”

—Zechariah 4:6

Practical Pre-Feast Checklist

To help us prepare with both heart and hands, here are some practical steps for Pre-Feast preparedness:

🕊 Spiritual Preparation

  • Daily prayer & Scripture reading: Keep your mind focused on YAH’s Word.
  • Family devotionals: Read & meditate on passages connected to the Feast you’re preparing for.
  • Guard your shalom: Refuse to let drama and distractions steal your shalom.

🏡 Home & Family Preparation

  • Meal planning: Decide what foods you’ll need for the Feast and shop early.
  • Declutter: Make space in your home to welcome guests; or your luggage, vehicle, and tent; and enjoy set-apart time.
  • Teach the children: Explain what the Feasts means so they enter with understanding.

🛠 Logistical Readiness

  • Travel plans: Confirm lodging or campsite, transportation, or caravan details with others.
  • Finances: Budget ahead so expenses don’t weigh you down last minute. Never show up to a feast empty-handed.
  • Work/school scheduled absence: Secure time off as early as possible. (Forms linked in blog below)

🤝 Community Connection

  • Check on your assembly/friends who are both near and far:
  • Make sure no one is left out or unprepared.
  • Share resources: Lend tents, tables, or food items if you have extras.
  • Pray together: (Can’t say it enough) Cover your mishpachah in intercession leading up to the Feast. Pray for scattered Torah keepers worldwide.

Remember, preparation is spiritual & physical. Getting ready in advance honors YAH and sets the tone for a joyful, shalom-filled Feast season.

A blessing for the Pre-Feast Season

May our Abba be with each of us.

May He strengthen us and remind us of who He is and what time it is.

May His shalom overflow in our homes, our workplaces, our schools, and our assemblies—no matter what calamities come our way—HalleluYAH!

Let us prepare with joy, as YAH invites us to His feasts once again!

Music Helps Us Prepare

Preparation is more than lists and tasks—it’s also about tuning our hearts. Our ancestors sang Psalms of Ascent on their way up to Jerusalem for the Feasts (Psalms 120–134). Their songs carried them into YAH’s presence with joy.

That’s part of why I began creating the Rhythms of the Moedim project.

These songs, along with others on my YouTube channel (The Shalom Frequency), reimagine the vibe and the Scriptures our ancestors once sang, now we seek the same today. Just as songs helped to prepare Yisrael for the Feasts long ago, may these songs help us prepare our homes and assemblies now.

Play them in your car, in your kitchen, or with your family as you prepare, decorate, and travel. Let the music of YAH’s Word set the rhythm of your preparation.

I AM: Hebrew—by blood Israelite—by covenant American—by way of birthright citizenship Awakened—by The Word & Spirit of YAH I blog about things that we often all see around us, things that we see in person, online, or on TV— and I offer functional & Scriptural perspectives on such matters. I believe that Scripture is key to understanding this thing we call life: “ALL Scripture is breathed out by Elohim (God) and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for setting straight, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of Elohim might be fitted, equipped for every good work.” ‭‭Timotiyos Bĕt (2 Timothy)‬ ‭3‬:‭16‬-‭17‬ ‭TS2009‬‬ https://bible.com/bible/316/2ti.3.16-17.TS2009 And that everything we do in life will be judged by The Creator of life, so it's best to understand the conclusion of The Matter: “Let us hear the CONCLUSION OF THE ENTIRE MATTER: FEAR ELOHIM AND GAURD (KEEP) HIS COMMANDS, for this applies to ALL mankind! For Elohim SHALL bring EVERY work into right-ruling (judgment), including ALL that is hidden, whether good or whether evil.” ‭‭Qoheleth (Ecclesiastes)‬ ‭12‬:‭13‬-‭14‬ ‭TS2009‬‬ https://bible.com/bible/316/ecc.12.13-14.TS2009
