If you have never kept “The Feast”, or you want to know more about Passover/Pesach & The Feast of Unleavened Bread, do your soul a favor and look into it for yourself—today! Don’t rely on your opinion of The Feast or your best-guess-understandings, don’t just go off your memory or traditions you learned from your childhood, your family, or church. Search the Bible for yourself, and you will see that The Feast is never replaced by “Holy Week”, “Good Friday” & “Easter”; The Feast was not done away with after the resurrection of Christ. On the contrary “WE KEEP THE FEAST”, even today, as the apostle Paul/Shaul, told us:
“PURGE out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our PASSOVER is sacrificed for us: therefore LET US KEEP THE FEAST, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.”
1 Corinthians 5:7-8 KJV
Or as another English translation puts it:
“Therefore cleanse out the old leaven, so that you are a new lump, as you are unleavened. For also Messiah our Pĕsaḥ (Pesach) was slaughtered for us. So then LET US CELEBRATE THE FESTIVAL, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of evil and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.”

So, it’s clear, Paul also instructs us to keep “The Feast”. He instructs us to cleanse/purge the leaven/yeast out, not merely focusing on our physical homes & diets, but most importantly to cleanse the spiritual leaven out of our lives.
“Your boasting is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump?”
1 Corinthians 5:6 ESV
“It is not right for you to be proud! You know the saying, “A little bit of yeast makes the whole batch of dough rise.””

And what is spiritual leaven? Sin! Just as a small amount of yeast/leaven grows in dough until it “leavens the whole lump” of dough, the same goes with sin in our hearts. If our hearts are not cleansed fully of sin, then in time, that sin, no matter how small, will puff up & grow, and once sin is full-grown, what happens?:
“Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and SIN when it is fully grown brings forth death.”
James 1:15 ESV
“Then our evil desires conceive and give birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.”

Let’s get back to the leaven≈sin comparison and this time let us reread the full passage which we started with in 1st Corinthians, starting at the top of the chapter for the fuller context of sin being like leaven.
“It is commonly reported that there is whoring among you, and such whoring as is not even named among the nations, so as one to have his father’s wife! And you have been PUFFED UP, and did not rather mourn, so that he who has done this deed, be removed from among you! For I indeed, as absent in body but present in spirit, have already judged the one who did this, as though I were present. In the Name of our Master יהושע (Yahoshua, erroneously translated as “Jesus”) Messiah, when you are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Master יהושע (Yahoshua) Messiah, deliver such a one to Satan for destruction of the flesh, in order that his spirit be saved in the day of the Master יהושע. Your boasting is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the entire lump? Therefore cleanse out the old leaven, so that you are a new lump, as you are unleavened. For also Messiah our Pĕsaḥ (Pesach) was slaughtered for us. So then let us celebrate the festival, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of evil and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.”

Moreh Yoshiyahu’s in his “Passover 2022” sermon (which you can view below), highlights the wisdom & understanding of Paul’s usage of “puffed up”, reread the passage for yourself, and consider that as yeast puffs up bread dough, sin puffs up our hearts.
