Is it strange to celebrate the end of one year with the beginning of another? Not at all. It’s good to give thanks and rejoice for making it through another year, it’s good to celebrate the gift of life. But the question at hand isn’t about celebration itself—it’s about when we celebrate the New Year. Why observe newness and renewal in the deadest, darkest part of the year, especially when the world once recognized the natural renewal of springtime as the New Year season?
Before the relatively modern shift to starting the year in winter, mankind aligned their New Year celebrations with the observable renewal of creation—in the spring. If this is news to you, you might be asking, “What is he getting at?” Let me explain.
We’re wrapping up the so-called “Season of the Witch.” Remember how it began? With the celebration of darkness and sweet treats during Halloween/Samhain, then it continued through full bellies from the Thanksgiving feast rooted in historical bloodshed. The season further intensified with Christmas/Yule/Saturnalia festivities, and now, New Year’s Eve and Day serve as the grand finale of the Season of The Witch.
This winter New Year celebration holiday, though it may seem detached from paganism, is deeply rooted in its pagan & wicked myths. Origins matter—rituals and practices carry significance, even when their meanings are forgotten or ignored. If you’re new to this, you might be surprised, and if you’ve been in the know for a while you still may not know just how the 1st of January being celebrated as the New Year is unbiblical, but keep reading and researching after, and you will.
So, how is the celebration of the winter New Year contrary to The Most High and His Word, His Instruction/Torah? Let’s explore.
As I always say “Don’t believe me”, don’t believe the memes either, do your own research and study for yourself. Check the Scriptures and the pagan history referenced above, for yourself. And as you do, allow me to provide you with more jumpstart information, courtesy of the Encyclopaedia Britannica:
“New Year festival, any of the social, cultural, and religious observances worldwide that celebrate the beginning of the new year. Such festivals are among the oldest and the most universally observed. The earliest known record of a New Year festival dates from about 2000 BCE in Mesopotamia, where in Babylonia the new year (Akitu) began with the new moon after the SPRING equinox (mid-March) and in Assyria with the new moon nearest the autumn equinox (mid-September). For the Egyptians, Phoenicians, and Persians the year began with the autumn equinox (September 21), and for the early Greeks it began with the winter solstice (December 21). On the Roman republican calendar the year began on March 1, BUT after 153 BCE the official date was January 1, which was continued in the Julian calendar of 46 BCE.”

You read it, SPRING, not only signaled the New Year for the Mesopotamians in Babylonia, but it also was the same for the early Romans — until the switch up… let’s continue the review:
“In early medieval times most of Christian Europe regarded March 25, the Feast of the Annunciation, AS THE BEGINNING OF THE NEW YEAR, ALTHOUGH New Year’s Day was observed on December 25 in Anglo-Saxon England. William the Conqueror decreed that the year begin on January 1, but England later joined the rest of Christendom and ADOPTED March 25. The Gregorian calendar, ADOPTED in 1582 by the Roman Catholic Church, RESTORED January 1 as New Year’s Day, and most European countries gradually followed suit: Scotland, in 1660; Germany and Denmark, about 1700; England, in 1752; and Russia, in 1918.”

So now, just as “most European countries gradually followed suit”, most of the other countries of the world followed suit in their observation of the New Year on January 1st.

Now, hopefully, you remember the Bible verses we looked at before we started reading the Brittanica quotes… because then we can clearly see the twisting above. Did you see the quote above, how it said that the “Jewish religious calendar” year begins with Rosh Hashana in the Autumn months? That right there is proof that shows how Jewish customs & traditions do not follow nor obey The Most High & His Word/Instruction/Torah, but they instead follow the traditions of man & the Talmud, which works in opposition to the Torah. Somehow you might be saying, “Yahrahn, how can you say such a thing?” Well, let us test & prove my accusation, by further comparing Jewish customs & traditions to the Word & Commandments of The Most High. Test the verses listed below for yourself:
Since we are not pagan heathens, let us not walk in the ways of the heathen. Let the heathen heath! Let the heathen celebrate their pagan gods! Let us who say that we follow The Messiah, those of us who say we are people who believe in The Bible, let us obey & celebrate ELOHIM in spirit & truth as the Bible instructs! We do not need to appropriate pagan customs, practices, and religions any longer, now is the time for us to know and tell our people what it means to be The Most High’s chosen nation.
Following heathens in their worship & celebration of their pagan gods & holidays is what got us in trouble in the first place. Idolatry, keeps The Most High’s curses (which are detailed in Deuteronomy 28), upon us as a people. Let us heed the Word of The Most High YAH! Let us repent/turn away from sin, and let us encourage the rest of our people to do the same. Remember this:
“Shout with the voice of a trumpet blast. Shout aloud! Don’t be timid. Tell MY people Israel of their sins!”

“Therefore, Jeremiah, go and warn all Judah and Jerusalem. Say to THEM, ‘This is what the Lord (YAH) says: I am planning disaster for you instead of good. So turn from your evil ways (repent), each of you, and do what is right.’” But the people replied, “Don’t waste your breath. We will continue to live as we want to, stubbornly following our own evil desires.” So this is what YAH says: “Has anyone ever heard of such a thing, even among the pagan nations? MY virgin daughter Israel has done something terrible! Does the snow ever disappear from the mountaintops of Lebanon? Do the cold streams flowing from those distant mountains ever run dry? But MY people are not so reliable, for they have deserted ME; they burn incense to worthless idols. They have stumbled off the ancient highways and walk in muddy paths. Therefore, their land will become desolate, a monument to their stupidity. All who pass by will be astonished and will shake their heads in amazement. I will scatter MY PEOPLE before their enemies as the east wind scatters dust. And in all their trouble I will turn my back on them and refuse to notice their distress.”

We were scattered for disobeying YAH, thinking that we could serve Him while following the way of the heathens. Our ancestors thought they could be YAH’s people while honoring & serving like pagans. Let us have nothing to do with paganism, everything from pagan: idols, worship, holidays, and festivals because — WE AIN’T PAGANS… it’s not our culture fam!
“So fear the Lord (YAH) and serve Him wholeheartedly. Put away forever the idols your ancestors worshiped when they lived beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt. Serve YAH ALONE. But if you refuse to serve YAH, then choose today whom you will serve. Would you prefer the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates? Or will it be the gods of the Amorites in whose land you now live (or for us in American, the European gods)? But as for me and my family, we will serve YAH.” The people replied, “We would never abandon YAH and serve other gods. For YAH our God (Elohim) is THE ONE who rescued us and our ancestors from slavery in the land of Egypt. He performed mighty miracles before our very eyes. We will obey HIM ALONE.” So Joshua made a covenant with the people that day at Shechem, committing them to follow the decrees and regulations of YAH. Joshua recorded these things in the Book of ELOHIM’s Instructions (Torah). As a reminder of their agreement, he took a huge stone and rolled it beneath the terebinth tree beside the Tabernacle of YAH. Joshua said to all the people, “This stone has heard everything YAH said to us. It will be a witness to testify against you if you go back on your word to ELOHIM.””

Follow, obey, worship, honor, celebrate YAH our ELOHIM, and let the pagans do their thing, celebrating their gods; Janus’ New Year, is their thang… let us do our thang—as for me and mine, we will serve YAH!
