In the last 3 blogs, we went over what The Feast of Hanukkah is, what hanukkah/dedication was for our ancestors, and what it means for us as Israelites today to live out all of our days in hanukkah to YAH. For some of you reading, it may have been your first year celebrating Hanukkah, while for others, you might be planning on celebrating for your first time next year, and still, others have been celebrating for years already and may benefit from testing practices by Scripture. Well… let us look at a few of the traditions & practices which are considered to be biblically righteous Hanukkah traditions & practices, especially by some (who say they are Israelites but are not).
For most people, one of the first things that comes to mind with Hanukkah is “The Festival of Lights”. As we went over in detail in the other blogs, Hanukkah is Hebrew for Dedication, not lights… So let me say it again, Our Feast of Hanukkah, is Our Feast of Dedication; it’s not a festival of lights, because that is not in The Script. If you don’t know the verses, I’ll share a couple again:

There are other worldwide “festivals of lights”, but our Feast of Hanukkah/Dedication ain’t one of them family. Here are some examples:

https://www.britannica.com/story/the-festival-of-lights
https://www.britannica.com/topic/St-Lucias-Day
Again, the focus of the Feast of Hanukkah is on our dedication/rededication, not lights, as the misnomer “Festival of Lights”, implies. In fact, we only see a couple of references pertaining to YAH’s Temple light “The Menorah”, in The Script, and we read nothing about 1 day’s worth of oil, lasting 8 days, which means, it’s not Biblical to call it the “Festival of Lights”, that Talmudic. We also see, all of the (7) lamps of the menorah/candlestick being lit all at once, not one per day, as some myths also teach… Read the Scriptures for yourself:

Again, the Talmud is the source of the myth about 1 day’s worth of oil, lasting for 8 days, not The Bible. We are also able to see other myths being painted onto Hanukkah… What other myths are there, you may ask? Well, you can click through some, by clicking the links below. And always take note of how many lamps are often displayed on the one candlestick, despite the Torah saying that The Menorah was made to have 7, not 9 lamps.

There are bigger fish to fry than the falsehoods which have been attached to Hanukkah, and still, we do well by getting rid of the lies and speaking the truth in this, as more important matters. After all, we are not commanded to Keep the Feast of Hanukkah, but there is truth and good in keeping it Biblically. Let us remember a few passages which call for us to be people of truth and not fiction:
“In the sight of Elohim and the Master יהושע (Yahoshua) Messiah, who shall judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His reign, I earnestly charge you: Proclaim The Word! Be urgent in season, out of season. Convict, warn, appeal, with all patience and teaching. For there shall be a time when they shall not bear sound teaching, but according to their own desires, they shall heap up for themselves teachers tickling the ear, and they shall indeed turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to myths.”
Timotiyos Bĕt (2 Timothy) 4:1-4 TS2009

So family, stick with The Script, and get rid of the silly myths, fables, and traditions of men. Put the dreidels & Mitzvah Moose down, and keep the Feast of Dedication/Hanukkah, as our ancestors in Scripture established. Even more importantly, live your lives in daily hanukkah/dedication unto YAH, in spirit & truth.
Until next time, shalom ✌🏾
