“Confession Is Good For The Soul”

That’s a great quote that has biblical roots. Another great quote is “The wise learn from the mistakes of others”. I made a mistake today, so allow me to confess to you all for edification & encouragement. I have already made my confession to The Most High YAH.

So what did I do? I watched a concert video from a rapper whom I knew wouldn’t be something pleasing to YAH, nor was it good for my soul… but I watched it anyway. Worse yet, as I listened to and remembered quite well the 90’s rapper and his lyrics, they were songs I haven’t listened to in decades, songs still full of lyrical immorality & dysfunction, but I kept listening… because, well… the music was jammin’. Now, it may seem like a small thing to some, but not to me. I understand the power of music, I know the stronghold it can have, and giving an ear to it can be a hook that is hard to let go of… I knew & know better. Crazier still, I blogged about it before if you remember:

So, knowing better, I should’ve done better, but I didn’t. I watched it till the end; enjoying the concert one second, and saying to myself “I should watch something else” the next. Romans 7:21-24 comes to mind, but thankfully there is a verse 25. I confess, what I listened to could’ve been stopped, should’ve been stopped, but instead, I chose dysfunction. I asked our Father for forgiveness, for that sin and other sins of the day which were known or unbeknownst to me. I am, we are supposed to be people who do that which is pleasing to YAH. We must choose function, life, righteousness. We must obey YAH and His instruction/Torah.

We are supposed to keep YAH’s commands & instructions found within Torah, every thought should be filtered through Torah. Our homes should be governed by Torah, every step we make, every word we speak, everything we listen to & watch, and everything we put our hands to do, should be Torah approved. That’s what the instructions about having Torah tied to our arms & foreheads is about:

Never forget these commands that I am giving you today. Teach them to your children. Repeat them when you are at home and when you are away, when you are resting and when you are working. Tie them on your arms and wear them on your foreheads as a reminder. Write them on the doorposts of your houses and on your gates.”

Deuteronomy‬ ‭6‬:‭6‬-‭9‬ ‭GNTD‬‬

Remember these commands and cherish them. Tie them on your arms and wear them on your foreheads as a reminder. Teach them to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are away, when you are resting and when you are working. Write them on the doorposts of your houses and on your gates.”

Deuteronomy‬ ‭11‬:‭18‬-‭20‬ ‭GNTD‬‬

Not only is confession good for the soul, but it’s good for the body. Our individual bodies yes, and also the untied body of The Messiah. We as a people, suffer from all sorts of dysfunction and dis-ease, some of which comes directly because of our sin and lack of confession & repentance. So let this be a reminder family, confess your sins first & foremost to our Father in Heaven, and also to the rest of the body, it is for our good.

“Are any among you in trouble? They should pray. Are any among you happy? They should sing praises. Are any among you sick? They should send for the church (assembly/body) elders, who will pray for them and rub olive oil on them in the name of The Lord (Master). This prayer made in faith will heal the sick; The Lord (Master) will restore them to health, and the sins they have committed will be forgiven. So then, CONFESS your sins to one another and pray for one another, so that you will be healed. The prayer of a good person has a powerful effect.”‬‬

James‬ ‭5‬:‭13‬-‭16‬ ‭GNTD

“My child, when you get sick, don’t ignore it. Pray to The Lord (YAH), and He will make you well. CONFESS all your sins and determine that in the future you will live a righteous life. Offer incense and a grain offering, as fine as you can afford. Then call the doctor—for The Lord (YAH) created him—and keep him at your side; you need him. There are times when you have to depend on his skill. The doctor’s prayer is that The Lord (YAH) will make him able to ease his patients’ pain and make them well again. As for the person who sins against his Creator, he deserves to be sick.”‬‬

Sirach‬ ‭38‬:‭9‬-‭15‬ ‭GNTD

“If My people, which are called by My name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

2 Chronicles‬ ‭7‬:‭14‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Sin has some heavy burdens, and thankfully we don’t have to carry all of the burden of sins forever; be they burdens of anxiety or guilt, illness or depression, we can & should confess our sins, and receive YAH’s shalom.

I CONFESS my sins; they fill me with anxiety.”

Psalm‬ ‭38‬:‭18‬ ‭GNTD‬‬

“You will never succeed in life if you try to hide your sins. CONFESS them and give them up; then God (Elohim) will show mercy to you.”‬‬

Proverbs‬ ‭28‬:‭13‬ ‭GNTD

“Never hesitate to speak out when the occasion calls for it. Don’t hide your wisdom. Your wisdom and education can be known only by what you say. Do not, however, go against the truth, and remember that you do not know everything. Don’t be ashamed to CONFESS your sins; there’s no point in trying to stop a river from flowing.”‬‬

Sirach‬ ‭4‬:‭23‬-‭26‬ ‭GNTD

“If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and there is no truth in us. But if we CONFESS our sins to God (YAH), He will keep His promise and do what is right: He will forgive us our sins and purify us from all our wrongdoing.”

1 John‬ ‭1‬:‭8‬-‭9‬ ‭GNTD‬‬

Let each of us individually confess & repent (turn away from) our sins, and then let us collectively do the same as Zion, for we are the reuniting Nation of Israel, and our sins have been, and still are great.

“Please read this book that we are sending you and make your own CONFESSION of sin in the Temple on the first day of the Festival of Shelters (Sukkot) and on other holy (set apart) days of assembly. This is the confession you should make: “The Lord (YAH) our God (Elohim)is righteous, but we are still covered with shame. All of us—the people of Judah, the people of Jerusalem, our kings, our rulers, our priests, our prophets, and our ancestors have been put to shame, because we have sinned against The Lord (YAH) our God (Elohim) and have disobeyed Him. We did not listen to Him or live according to His commandments. From the day The Lord (YAH) brought our ancestors out of Egypt until the present day, we have continued to be unfaithful to Him, and we have not hesitated to disobey Him. Long ago, when The Lord (YAH) led our ancestors out of Egypt, so that He could give us a rich and fertile land, He pronounced curses against us through His servant Moses. And today we are suffering because of those curses. We refused to obey the word of The Lord (YAH) our God (Elohim) which He spoke to us through the prophets. Instead, we all did as we pleased and went on our own evil way. We turned to other gods and did things The Lord (YAH) hates.”‬‬

Baruch‬ ‭1‬:‭14‬-‭21‬ ‭GNTD

“Lord (YAH), have You completely rejected Judah? Do you hate the people of Zion? Why have you hurt us so badly that we cannot be healed? We looked for peace (shalom), but nothing good happened; we hoped for healing, but terror came instead. We have sinned against You, Lord (YAH); we CONFESS our own sins and the sins of our ancestors. Remember Your promises and do not despise us; do not bring disgrace on Jerusalem, the place of Your glorious throne. Do not break the covenant You made with us. None of the idols of the nations can send rain; the sky by itself cannot make showers fall. We have put our hope in You, O Lord (YAH) our God (Elohim), because You are The One who does these things.”

Jeremiah‬ ‭14‬:‭19‬-‭22‬ ‭GNTD‬‬

As the world nations grow in their pride, let us grow in our humility & shame for our sins. Let us confess & repent from our sin, while the world nations celebrate & increase in their sin… Our Redeemer, and the Judge of All Nations is coming soon.

“Whoever is evil must go on doing evil, and whoever is filthy must go on being filthy; whoever is good must go on doing good, and whoever is holy (set apart) must go on being holy (set apart).” “Listen!” says Jesus (Yahoshua), “I am coming soon! I will bring My rewards with me, to give to each one according to what he has done.”

Revelation‬ ‭22‬:‭11‬-‭12‬ ‭GNTD‬‬

And with that, we will close this one out; but before you go on to other things, check out these videos:

Until next time, shalom ✌🏾

I AM: Hebrew—by blood Israelite—by covenant American—by way of birthright citizenship Awakened—by The Word & Spirit of YAH I blog about things that we often all see around us, things that we see in person, online, or on TV— and I offer functional & Scriptural perspectives on such matters. I believe that Scripture is key to understanding this thing we call life: “ALL Scripture is breathed out by Elohim (God) and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for setting straight, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of Elohim might be fitted, equipped for every good work.” ‭‭Timotiyos Bĕt (2 Timothy)‬ ‭3‬:‭16‬-‭17‬ ‭TS2009‬‬ https://bible.com/bible/316/2ti.3.16-17.TS2009 And that everything we do in life will be judged by The Creator of life, so it's best to understand the conclusion of The Matter: “Let us hear the CONCLUSION OF THE ENTIRE MATTER: FEAR ELOHIM AND GAURD (KEEP) HIS COMMANDS, for this applies to ALL mankind! For Elohim SHALL bring EVERY work into right-ruling (judgment), including ALL that is hidden, whether good or whether evil.” ‭‭Qoheleth (Ecclesiastes)‬ ‭12‬:‭13‬-‭14‬ ‭TS2009‬‬ https://bible.com/bible/316/ecc.12.13-14.TS2009
