Shalom family. I know, it’s been a while… and I have other inspired blogs pending and YAH willing I will post them soon, but I want to get this admonition out TODAY!
With all of the ever-increasing calamities, I want my household to be as ready & comfortable as possible for the times when the lights go out… and I want the same for all of you & your families! So, I have a question for you: Are you prepared for high heat & cold during long-term power outages?
Especially consider your answer if you have elders, babies, or people who are under the weather in your homes because having comfortable in-home temperatures becomes vital to life when the temperatures become extreme and the power goes out for days at a time. Overnight heat waves & extreme temperatures are surprisingly the most dangerous part of the day because that’s the time when our bodies will literally tap out from being overworked; when we go to sleep, our bodies go into repair mode, but if we don’t get relief because of overnight extreme weather, it can prove deadly after a couple of days as our bodies work overtime trying to regulate our internal temperatures.
Thankfully, Amazon Prime has some pretty big sales going right now thanks to “Prime Day”, check out their portable electric powerbanks/generators from brands like EcoFlow, Jackery, Bluetti, etc… Yes indeed, now is the time to have those on hand. But I especially want you all to also consider getting a portable air conditioner & heater. Check this one out:

Now I know, trust me, that’s a lot of money to spend on something that we don’t “NEED”… but if your power is out for more than 72 hours during a heat wave or deep freeze, having battery backup cooling/heating can save lives! Now, this won’t cool/heat your whole home, but you can cool/heat a room for relief & recovery. Many of us will spend more money than what’s listed above, over a summer or winter, on things that don’t really matter. Some of us are saving money for a rainy day… well consider these times right now, as rainy days.

We have been telling ourselves and our families to prepare for hard times for a while now… Most of us have stocked up and encouraged everyone else to stock up on medicines, at least 2 emergency food bins (with shelf-stable foods, simple & cheap things like beans & rice, seasoning, water, etc), flashlights & candles, self-defense tools, weather band radios, etc… But, if you are new to my blogs, here are some oldie-but-goodie blogs with other things to get you pointed in the right direction, helping you to know what to pay attention to, what to do, and what to keep in mind:
Until next time, shalom ✌🏾
