As we prepare to leave winter and enter into spring, this post is for those who are new to observing or learning about the Biblical winter-time Holidays—or more accurately, Holy Days (see etymology). I’ve discussed YAH’s set-apart feast days in other blogs, but this blog collection is different because The Most High did NOT command us to keep or celebrate any winter feast days, these festivals can be considered “optional, bonus celebrations”. However, after experiencing salvation and deliverance from their enemies, our ancestors instituted two special festivals that we can remember, observe, and celebrate… and at the very least, as Bible believers, we should have an understanding of both festivals—whether we choose to celebrate them or not.
Alright, let’s get into it:
First up, take a look at this blog series on the first Biblical Winter Festival—Dedication (Hanukkah):
Next, check out this blog on the Festival of Purim:
As I’ve already mentioned—and you can read about in the blogs above—we are NOT commanded to keep either of these winter festivals. However, there is value in understanding them both. Choosing to celebrate Hanukkah and Purim as our ancestors did, fosters a mindset of gratitude, joy, and trust in the salvation of The Most High YAH — HalleluYAH! Choose to keep them or not, it’s up to you, but never fail to trust in the salvation of YAH (Yahoshua).
Until next time, shalom ✌🏾
