Welcome back to our thought-provoking series where we examine and debunk some of the outright lies and common misconceptions that are told concerning biblical matters. Let us separate fact from fiction as we test modern beliefs held by some against the standards, wisdom, and instructions that are found in the Biblical Scriptures.
I’ve talked about this topic before—sometimes directly, sometimes indirectly—in a few of my other blogs (which I’ll share at the end). But this time, I want to deal with it head-on as part of the Biblical Misconceptions series.
“Here is the endurance of the saints: here are those who keep the commandments of Elohim (YAH, aka God) ANDthe faith of Yahoshua (aka Jesus).”
Revelation 14:12
1. The Hard Truth Few Want to Face
Many believe Christianity is the faith of the Bible. It’s the religion most believe to be associated with The Messiah, and countless people sincerely follow it, thinking it represents the true faith of the apostles.
But when we look honestly at what Scripture teaches, the truth becomes unavoidable: Christianity is NOT Biblical!
The Bible defines righteousness, holiness, and the “saints” in ways that do not match Christian doctrine. Thankfully, Revelation 14:12 summarizes it perfectly — the true saints are those who keep the commandments of Elohim and hold the faith of Yahoshua. You can’t have one without the other.
When we hold this verse beside others like 1 John 2:3–6, 3:4, 5:3, and Matthew 5:17–20, we realize the Biblical truth: Christian teachings separate “faith” from “obedience.” Something that Scripture never does. According to The Word itself, disobedience to YAH’s Law, His Torah (Instruction) is sin.
2. The Faith of The Bible Is Never Called “Christianity” In The Bible
The earliest followers of Yahoshua (Yahoshua, who again is erroneously called “Jesus” today), were never called “Christians.” They were known as followers of The Way:
“And asked from him letters to the synagogues of Damascus, so that if he found any who were of The Way, whether men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem.”
Acts 9:2
Yahoshua’s disciples walked in Torah, kept the Feasts, honored the Sabbath, and lived in obedience to the commandments. The term “Christian” didn’t appear until — according to The Bible in Acts 11:26 — outsiders in Antioch, a Greek city outside the land of Israel — and even then, the term was used by those outsiders to label the growing group of believers.
The Messiah (nor His apostles) never founded a new religion called Christianity. He came to call the lost sheep of the house of Yisrael back to covenant faithfulness. His life and ministry were rooted in Torah and the Prophets.
3. Yahoshua’s Mission: To Fulfill and Advance Torah, Not Replace It
Yahoshua’s own words make His mission unmistakable:
“Do NOT think that I came to destroy the Torah or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. For truly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the Torah till all is fulfilled. Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in The Kingdom of Heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in The Kingdom of Heaven.”
Matthew 5:17–19
The Greek word plēroō means to fill or make complete, but Yahoshua’s meaning is rooted in the Hebrew idea of qiyyem (to uphold or establish) and millei (to fill to completeness). In other words, He came to uphold and bring the Torah to its full purpose, not to end it.
Yahoshua deepened the understanding of Torah’s intent—showing that obedience flows from love, not legalism.
He healed on the Sabbath day which was lawful and shalom-filled (Shabbat shalom indeed), He kept our Father’s Feast Days, and He taught others to keep all of YAH’s commands from the heart. Every lesson and action revealed what true Torah observance looks like: love, rooted in obedience and truth.
4. The Apostles Continued in That Same Way
The apostles did not abandon Torah after Yahoshua’s resurrection and ascension. They continued walking in obedience and teaching others to do so.
“You see, brother, how many thousands of Yahudim (erroneously called “Jews”) there are who have believed, and they are all zealous for the Torah.”
Acts 21:20
Even Paul — the most misunderstood apostle (remember 2 Peter 3:15-17) — testified before his accusers:
“But this I confess to you, that according to The Way which they call a sect, so I worship the Elohim of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the Torah and the Prophets.”
Acts 24:14
Paul kept the Feasts (Acts 18:21; 20:16), honored the Sabbath, and taught the nations to turn from idolatry and the ways of the heathen — both violations of Torah. His writings about “grace” and “faith” were never permission to sin, but explanations that salvation is by grace through faith which leads to obedience, not replaces it.
“Do we, then, nullify the Torah by this faith? Certainly NOT! Instead, we uphold the Torah.”
Romans 3:31
5. The European Shift: From Torah to the Tradition of Men
After the destruction of Jerusalem and the scattering of the people of Yisrael, people of The Way began to be influenced by Greco-Roman philosophy. By the 4th century, under Constantine, what had begun as a Hebrew Way of Life obeying YAH’s Torah while maintaining faith in Yahoshua, was remixed and represented as an European religion where:
Sunday replaced the seventh-day Shabbat remembrance and keeping.
Easter replaced Passover.
Christmas replaced the Feast of Tabernacles & Hanukkah.
Man-made doctrines & creeds replaced the commandments of YAH.
This was not the faith of Yahoshua or His apostles — it was a new system built on European tradition rather than Hebrew truth. The shift was cultural, political, and spiritual — and it systematically erased the identity of the original believers.
The Apostolic Writings define faith and love in the same way the Torah does — through obedience;
“Now by this we know that we know Him, IFwe keep His commandments. He who says, ‘I know Him,’ and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.”
1 John 2:3–4
“Everyone who commits sin also transgresses the Torah, for sin IS the transgression of the Torah.”
1 John 3:4
“For this IS the love of Elohim, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome.”
1 John 5:3
“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Master, Master,’ shall enter into The Kingdom of Heaven, but he who does the will (Torah) of My Father in heaven. Many shall say to Me in that day, ‘Master, Master, have we not prophesied in Your Name, and cast out demons in Your Name, and done many mighty works in Your Name?’ And then I shall declare to them, ‘I never knew you, depart from Me, you who work Lawlessness (Torahlessness)!’”
Matthew 7:21-23
True faith is not just believing that Yahoshua exists — it is walking as He walked (1 John 2:6). To separate faith from obedience is to separate Yahoshua from His own teachings.
“The one who says he stays in Him ought himself also to walk, even as He walked.”
1 John 2:6
“You believe that Elohim (YAH) is one. You do well. The demons also believe – and shudder! But do you wish to know, O foolish man, that the belief without the works is dead? Was not Aḇraham our father declared right by works when he offered Yitsḥaq his son on the slaughter-place? You see, then, that a man is declared right by works, and not by belief alone.”
James 2:19-21, 24
7. Find and Walk in The Way
The Biblical and historical evidence is clear: Christianity is not the faith of the Bible. It is a mixture — part truth, part tradition —created when the world sought to make YAH’s set-apart people and way fit its mold. It reminds of a saying that I used to hear often growing up: “A half-truth is a whole-lie”.
But YAH is calling His chosen people out of darkness and lies. Calling His people to keep His commandments. To celebrate His appointed times (“Feast Days”). Calling the chosen to follow after His Son and His Son’s example — because He is The Way, The Truth, and The Life.
This is not a rejection of Yahoshua — it is the true and only way of following Him as He truly is: The Living Torah of YAH made flesh.
“In the beginning was The Word, and The Word was with Elohim (YAH), and The Word was Elohim. He was in the beginning with Elohim. And The Word became flesh and pitched His tent (dwelt) among us, and we saw His esteem, esteem as of an only brought-forth of a father, complete in favor and truth.
John 1:1-2, 14
So let us always remember that The Messaiah’s Words are The Father’s Words; let us obey His Word above every church doctrine, every Christian denomination:
“Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father is in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak from Myself. But the Father who stays in Me does His works. “IF you love Me, you shall guard My commands. “He who possesses My commands and guards them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me shall be loved by My Father, and I shall love him and manifest Myself to him.” “… If anyone loves Me, he shall guard My Word. And My Father shall love him, and We shall come to him and make Our stay with him. “He who does not love Me does not guard My Words. And the Word which you hear is not Mine but of the Father Who sent Me.”
John 14:10, 15, 21, 23-24
You can’t say that you follow Christ by not following Christ! You cannot be a believer in The Messiah, while disobeying Him! Follow the instructions of Truth found in The Bible, and turn from every other way & religion—Christianity is not The Way, it is the Lie… It is the broadway:
“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow The Way that leads to life, and only a few find it.”
Matthew 7:13-14
The important question for every self-professed Bible believer who is in Christianity is simple:
Will you continue to follow after the traditions of men, or return to the Torah of YAH — the same Torah Yahoshua kept and taught?
Pray to our Father. Those who have ears to hear will recognize the call to come out of Babylon’s religious confusion and walk in THE Covenant path of obedience and faith — it is The Way! The Church is the Lie!
In our next posts, we’ll build on this truth and examine what Yahoshua and His apostles actually said about the traditions of men during His time with them — the added rules and oral laws that became heavy burdens.
We’ll see clearly that we obey Torah, not Talmud.
Because true faith doesn’t follow men’s inventions & religion — it follows The Word that came forth from the mouth of YAH.

I blog about things that we often all see around us, things that we see in person, online, or on TV— and I offer functional & Scriptural perspectives on such matters. I believe that Scripture is key to understanding this thing we call life:
“ALL Scripture is breathed out by Elohim (God) and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for setting straight, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of Elohim might be fitted, equipped for every good work.”

And that everything we do in life will be judged by The Creator of life, so it's best to understand the conclusion of The Matter:
“Let us hear the CONCLUSION OF THE ENTIRE MATTER: FEAR ELOHIM AND GAURD (KEEP) HIS COMMANDS, for this applies to ALL mankind! For Elohim SHALL bring EVERY work into right-ruling (judgment), including ALL that is hidden, whether good or whether evil.”
