A few weeks ago, we looked at the promise from our King, The King of kings, and how He told us that because of the increase in Lawlessness the love of many WILL/MUST grow cold (Matthew 24:12), read/reread this blog:
We are told… we are commanded to endure! We are also told how we are supposed to endure in many ways, one of which we will highlight in this blog—we are to endure SOBERLY!
“for you are all sons of light and sons of day. We do NOT belong to the night NOR to darkness. So then let us NOT sleep [in spiritual indifference] as the rest [of the world does], BUT let us keep wide awake [alert and cautious] AND let us be SOBER [self-controlled, calm, and wise]. For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who are drunk get drunk at night. But since we [believers] belong to the day, let us be SOBER, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet, the hope and confident assurance of salvation.”
1 Thessalonians 5:5-8 AMP
We all know that sobriety is not limited exclusively to moderation with alcohol or other intoxicative substances, but we must not forget the practical & literal sobriety with those substances, ever. Yes, we must be careful to keep ourselves righteous and balanced in all things, everything from money to food, to women/men, but keeping ourselves sober from intoxicatingly dysfunctional drugs is more important now than ever. The dangers of addictive drugs are well known to us all, we might know it personally, or by seeing the harmful effects on others. But before we go any further, let’s do what we often do… let’s look at a couple of definitions and etymologies shall we:
Sorcery & drugs go together… they just do. Not all drugs of course, but we know that certain drugs can intoxicate & control people beyond their ability to function in life, and beyond their ability to resist or stop by mere self-will. Some drugs, especially some of these newer drugs can completely overwhelm, possess, and destroy their users, changing those who use them into slaves to the drug. Drugs & sorcery are nothing new, and they will be in this world until the end of this age, and they have been and will always be evil in the eyes of YAH. Consider the chronicles recorded of King Manasseh, not only was his idolatry, pagan worship, and child sacrifices listed as his repulsive & evil acts, but so was his sorcery:
“He made his sons pass through the fire [as an offering to his gods] in the Valley of Ben-hinnom; and he practiced WITCHCRAFT, used divination, and practiced SORCERY, and dealt with mediums and spiritists. He did much evil in the sight of the Lord (YAH), provoking Him to anger.”
2 Chronicles 33:6 AMP
Let us fully understand, that true witchcraft & sorcery don’t merely look like what we see on TV & movies, get images like these out of your mind:
Drug sorcery is growing in major city streets across the USA. Yes, these drugs affect people mentally & physically, but I assure you, we are seeing real-life spiritual attacks as they are induced by modern-day sorcery:
“Outside are the dogs [the godless, the impure, those of low moral character] and the SORCERERS [with their intoxicating drugs, and magic arts], and the immoral persons [the perverted, the molesters, and the adulterers], and the murderers, and the idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices lying (deception, cheating).”
Revelation 22:15 AMP
Family, whatever the intoxicating drug, be it alcohol or the more sinister “street drugs”, we must realize that these spirits can take over our lives, but we also know that:
“Little children (believers, dear ones), you are of God (YAH) and you belong to Him and have [already] overcome them [the agents of the antichrist]; because He who is in you is greater than he (Satan) who is in the world [of sinful mankind]. They [who teach twisted doctrine] are of the world and belong to it; therefore they speak from the [viewpoint of the] world [with its immoral freedom and baseless theories—demanding compliance with their opinions and ridiculing the values of the upright], and the [gullible one of the] world listens closely and pays attention to them. We [who teach YAH’s Word] are from YAH [energized by The Holy Spirit], and whoever knows YAH [through personal experience] listens to us [and has a deeper understanding of Him]. Whoever is not of YAH does not listen to us. By this we know [without any doubt] the spirit of truth [motivated by YAH] and the spirit of error [motivated by Satan].”
1 John 4:4-6 AMP
So as the times get tougher, and the days grow darker, we the children of The Light, do not find strength, solace, or relief in any intoxicating drugs… no, our strength, solace, and relief are found in YAH & His instructions for our lives. Let us seek Him & His kingdom, as we reject the ways of these world kingdoms. As everyone turns to drugs, we turn to YAH.
Drinking in celebration and thanksgiving is a good/functional thing (Deuteronomy 14:26 & Nehemiah 8:10). Being a drunkard is not. Seeking to be intoxicated when angry or depressed is not—intoxication might mask pain and other negative emotions, but it can also fuel dysfunction. Being out of balance, being addicted to drugs & sorcery, is dysfunctional. Let us Be Sober people.Seek & stay functional family.
Lastly, hear me out family: Drink responsibly, and IF you cannot—do not drink. IF the people around you do not help you stay sober, stop hanging around them. IF the places you frequent, push you towards intoxication, it’s time to go to other places. IF you feel that you “must” smoke weed, at the very least, grow/roll your own because as you will see in these videos below, the drug sorcerers are lacing everything with tranq and other wildly addictive and dangerous substances.
“Wine is a mocker, strong drink a riotous brawler; And whoever is intoxicated by it is not wise.”

Let us conduct ourselves properly and honorably as in the [light of] day, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual promiscuity and irresponsibility, not in quarreling and jealousy. But clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ (King Yahoshua Mashiach), and make no provision for [nor even think about gratifying] the flesh in regard to its improper desires.”

Would you please elaborate on drugs say for high blood pressure, high cholesterol etc.
Drugs for people who have had surgeries and need some extra help after?
In taking these drugs does it effect one’s faith in Yah to heal?

As you said, intoxication can lead to sin… That’s the thing, intoxication, and excessive intoxication at that, that’s the line we should not cross. If we become intoxicated beyond functionality, and especially if we do so frequently, that is dysfunction. Just as you said about Noah, he was not a drunkard, but he did become highly intoxicated according to the record, and something major happened that night. He was celebrating the blessings of YAH, and he had an excessive wine night, but it was not his normal way of life. How do we know, he was not called a drunkard? It’s not in his record, as others have recorded about them. Now, a drunkard, a wino, a pothead, meth-head, etc… they are known by their dysfunctional fruit, not by single or infrequent occurrences. Those who become frequently, and excessively intoxicated are known by those titles above. We either might be/might have been, or we know of people like that… that’s the dysfunction.
Whereas, there are other more functional drugs & medicines that we take, which also might have side & direct effects which alter minds & spirits; they can still be taken because they help functionality. You mentioned high blood pressure & cholesterol medication, those do not lead to dysfunction in our minds at all. Still, other prescriptions may affect our minds (Percocet, Vicodin, Fentanyl, etc…), but the primary reason they are prescribed and taken is not to alter the spirit & mind of the patient/consumer, but rather they are taken to help restore or maintain bodily function. If we do the former, that is drug abuse/misuse, and it is dysfunction. To answer your other question, taking prescription and OTC drugs for healing, doesn’t mean that you don’t have faith in YAH for healing, like you mentioned, for instance a little wine can make the heart merry and help the stomach. Many people “self-medicate” with street drugs, but the numbing and high, can be greater than the functional benefits, and that pull is strong, strong enough to pull people away from functionality all the way to a life of dysfunction, that is the threat which we should avoid. Thankfully, there are alternative medicines that are available, CDB comes to mind and is well known today and available just about everywhere, and it’s a THC-free medicine for those who can not handle intoxication. I’m not promoting its use, but that is one of many alternatives out there.
All in all, we do well to seek more natural alternatives to help alleviate our pain, diseases, and unwanted conditions.
